Not all EJMCR manuscript types carry an Article Processing Charge (APC). Case Reports, Case Series and Clinical Audits have the standard APC. Letters to the Editor, Image Articles, Short Communications, Technical Notes, Surgical Videos and Illustrative Techniques have lower APCs. Original Articles and Review Articles have no APC. 2. What are the Article Processing Charges for EJMCR?
Case Reports, Case Series and Clinical Audits: €220 plus applicable tax. Letters to the Editor and Image Articles: €40 plus applicable tax. Short Communications, Technical Notes, Surgical Videos and Illustrative Techniques: €75 plus applicable tax. Original Articles and Review Articles have no APC. Where applicable, APCs are payable only after acceptance; none is payable at submission, during initial editorial screening or during peer review. 3. Do you offer APC discounts or concessions?
EJMCR offers the following non-cumulative discounts on the standard €220 APC:
- Students and trainees: 25% discount — €165 plus applicable tax.
- Authors from developing countries (as classified by the World Bank): 35% discount — €143 plus applicable tax.
- NGOs, charities and eligible authors facing genuine financial hardship: 55% discount — €99 plus applicable tax.
4. What kind of open-access license does EJMCR use?
EJMCR publishes articles under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence. This license allows for unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, as long as the original author and source receive proper credit.
5. What open access policy does EJMCR follow?
EJMCR follows a Gold Open Access model. Published articles are freely available online immediately upon publication without subscription access barriers. Depending on the manuscript category, publication costs may be supported by an Article Processing Charge (APC); some categories have no APC. See the Open Access Statement for details.

EJMCR aims to make a decision on manuscripts within 90 days of receipt. Authors can expect to be notified about the status of their manuscript within this timeframe or receive an explanation for any delays.
9. Does EJMCR provide English language editing services?
EJMCR does not provide in-house language editing. Authors may use professional editing services where needed. Use of an external service does not influence editorial decisions or guarantee acceptance.
If an editor or reviewer specifically requests a language-editing certificate or plagiarism report, authors should provide the requested documentation.

11. What ethical guidelines does EJMCR follow?
EJMCR expects authors, reviewers and editors to follow applicable publication and research ethics, including COPE and relevant ICMJE recommendations. Authors should address authorship, originality and plagiarism, competing interests, ethical approval where applicable, and patient consent and confidentiality. 12. Do I need patient consent for a case report or clinical image?
Written consent for publication is required where a patient may be identifiable from clinical information, images or other material, in accordance with EJMCR ethical and patient-confidentiality policies. Consent for publication differs from consent for medical treatment. Authors should consult the Guide for Authors and relevant ethics policies before submission.
